Dried Flower Wreath - Making A Dried Felicitation Wreath

The word felicitation means to congratulation. We can also say the felicitation is honoring any person. The best way to congratulate your friend is giving a felicitation wreath.

Are you interested in making a dried felicitation wreath for your friend? Then just collect the following materials:

  • Styrofoam wreath base
  • Colorful curly ribbons
  • Pearl spray
  • Dried calla lilies
  • Fresh bird-of-paradise
  • Congratulation card
  • Glue
  • Floral green tape
  • Scissors
  • Pink acrylic paint

Determine on the type of base that you wish to use for making your dried felicitation. If you decide to work in Styrofoam wreath base then it is better to soak it in lukewarm water for around 20 minutes.

Keep it aside and allow it to dry. Apply pink acrylic paint all over the wreath base and allow the paint to dry. At the meantime get ready with the flowers. Take the dried calla lilies and cut off the stems.

Leave at least 3 to 4” from the floral head and cut the stems at an angle of 45 degree. Use sharp scissors for this purpose. The stems might get crush if you use a blunt device for cutting the stems. If the stems crush then they would no longer remain in a good condition.

Repeat the same procedure with the fresh bird-of-paradise. Take the flowers and slash off the stems leaving 3” of the floral head. Remember to have an angular cut. As soon as you cut the fresh flowers put them back in the water. Otherwise the fresh flowers will wilt.

Now that you are ready with both the flowers its time to make the wreath. Make small holes in the Styrofoam wreath base and pour little drops of glue so that it becomes easy to attach the flowers in the base.

First place the dried flowers in the wreath. Leave one alternate hole and go on placing the dried calla lilies. Press the flowers in order to secure them. Be careful while placing the flowers, remember that you are using dried flowers those are fragile.

After you finish placing the dried calla lilies its time to place the fresh bird-of-paradise. Follow the same process and place the fresh flowers in the wreath base. If you wish you can cover the Styrofoam wreath base with floral green tape. This will cover the stems of the flowers in the wreath base.

Add few decorations like a large bow at the top of the wreath. Add pearl sprays to make your wreath look eye catching. At the center of wreath you can attach a congratulation card for your friend. Attach a wreath hanger at the top back of the wreath. Now hang the wreath in your friend’s room
